After twenty years in the music, film, and television industries as a professional sound engineer, JD found that the most meaningful moments in the studio were never about the gear. What interested him was the first hour of a session, when he learned about the client’s story and dreams. JD found that the vulnerability involved in making art required a warm presence that validated emotions and insecurities. This curiosity about people, their stories, and a desire to create a space for vulnerability led him to pursue a career in Marriage and Family Therapy.
JD is completing his Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University, with an expected graduation of October 2027. His therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy and Bowenian Family Systems theory, helping clients explore the patterns and dynamics that shape who they are. He is particularly passionate about working with individuals and families navigating Trauma, Religious Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression.
JD believes that every person carries a story worth hearing, and that real change becomes possible when someone feels genuinely seen and understood. He is committed to creating a warm, collaborative space where clients feel safe enough to do the hard and meaningful work of growth.
Outside of the therapy room, JD loves discovering new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
